Typhoon Bawei Maintains Super-Typhoon Status, Expected to Hit Taiwan on July 11

According to China Meteorological Administration, Typhoon Bawei maintained super-typhoon strength on July 9, with maximum sustained winds of 16 levels (55 meters per second) and a minimum central pressure of 930 hectopascals. The typhoon was located approximately 1,210 kilometers southeast of Keelung, Taiwan.

The system is expected to move northwest at 15–20 kilometers per hour, approaching Taiwan's northeastern coast and potentially making landfall or skirting the northern coast on July 11 at super-typhoon or strong-typhoon level (14–16 levels, 45–52 meters per second) before gradually weakening as it nears the coast from central Fujian to southern Zhejiang.
