Two Russian Oil Tankers Struck and Catch Fire in Taganrog Bay on July 9

According to Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusari, Ukrainian drones struck two Russian oil tankers in Taganrog Bay on July 9, with both vessels catching fire and suffering mechanical damage. One fire was subsequently extinguished. Ukraine has significantly intensified attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in recent weeks, targeting fuel transport ships as part of efforts to disrupt fuel supplies and pressure the Kremlin toward negotiations. Ukrainian forces have also attacked smaller tankers in the Sea of Azov destined for Crimea, and multiple vessels were hit in the Black Sea, according to Ukrainian officials.
