Two Chinese Nationals Charged with Money Laundering Over $43 Million from Investment Fraud on July 16

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, two Chinese nationals—Chen Zhuoying, 27, and Zhang Haojie, 38—were indicted on July 16 for money laundering conspiracy. The two allegedly operated a network through approximately 45 shell companies and 140 business bank accounts in Queens and Brooklyn between 2020 and 2022, moving at least $43 million in proceeds from investment fraud schemes to accounts in China. The case was jointly investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, IRS Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. If convicted, each defendant faces up to 20 years imprisonment.
