Trump Says U.S. May Resume 'Operation Freedom of Navigation' on May 8

According to Trump’s remarks at the White House on May 8, the United States may resume Operation Freedom of Navigation, aimed at clearing vessels trapped in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated he views the operation as a good idea but noted there are alternative approaches. If diplomatic progress stalls, the U.S. could restart the initiative as an upgraded version with additional measures beyond the original plan. Trump also expected to receive Iran’s response to the U.S. proposal on bilateral negotiations later that day.
