Strategy CEO Outlines Bitcoin Sale Policy on May 10, Cites Dividend and Tax Optimization

BTC-0.79%

According to Strategy CEO Phong Le on May 10, the company will only sell Bitcoin in specific circumstances, including paying dividends on preferred stock and executing tax deferral or tax optimization strategies. The company will prioritize evaluating whether selling Bitcoin or issuing new stock better enhances its “Bitcoin per share” metric, and will only proceed with BTC sales if the action creates value for common shareholders.

Strategy currently holds 818,334 BTC worth over $66 billion. Phong Le noted that given Bitcoin’s approximately $60 billion daily trading volume, the company’s annual dividend payout of around $1 billion would not cause significant market price impact.
