St. Jude Children's Hospital Liquidates ASTEROID Holdings, Receives 290+ ETH Worth $676K

ETH-1.03%

According to ChainCatcher, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has liquidated its ASTEROID token holdings over the past two days, receiving over 290 ETH worth approximately $676,000. Marc, the hospital’s crypto donations lead, stated the institution received a donation of 0.5% of ASTEROID’s total supply approximately two years ago but lacked compliant redemption channels at the time. As ASTEROID’s market value surged from roughly $20,000 to over $150 million, the hospital’s position peaked at an estimated $500,000 to $1 million in value. To minimize liquidity impact on the community, the hospital executed the sale across 12 batches while monitoring market conditions. The proceeds will support St. Jude’s pediatric disease treatment and research programs.
