SpaceX Plans to Launch Orbital AI Computing Systems by End of 2027, Ahead of IPO Target

According to SpaceX's pre-IPO investor presentation, the company plans to launch its first orbital artificial intelligence computing demonstrator systems by the end of 2027, advancing the timeline from 2028 outlined in its IPO filings. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and CFO Bret Johnsen disclosed that the initial phase will focus on validating technical feasibility rather than immediate commercial operations. The company has filed regulatory requests to deploy up to 1 million AI data center satellites and claims it is the only enterprise with a path to large-scale commercial orbital AI infrastructure. Elon Musk recently stated that first-generation AI satellites will leverage NVIDIA GB300-class chips, with Starship's reusable design expected to significantly reduce deployment costs.
