According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 13, President Lee Jae-myung indicated the government will consider adjusting household electricity rates, provided safeguards are put in place for low-income households. During a national financial strategy meeting at the Blue House, Lee noted that industrial electricity rates currently stand at approximately 180 won per kilowatt-hour, while household rates are 150–160 won, making industrial rates about 20 won higher.
Lee suggested implementing time-of-use pricing to promote air-source heat pump adoption, proposing lower rates during daytime hours when electricity demand is low. He emphasized that accelerating heat pump deployment and maintaining sufficient initial subsidies are necessary for energy efficiency and reducing reliance on imported fuels.
