According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 9, South Korea's Democratic Party Euljiro Committee urged MBK Partners and Meritz Financial to provide approximately 100 billion won in emergency operational funding to prevent Homeplus retailer's collapse. Committee chairman Min Byung-deok stated the funding is necessary to address an immediate crisis, warning that without a solution by July 20, approximately 3,000 Homeplus employees and an estimated 100,000 people including suppliers and local merchants could be affected. The retailer is facing bankruptcy proceedings after a court decision on July 3.
