South Korea's Democratic Party Rejects Lowering Single-Stock Leverage ETF Ratios on July 27

According to Yonhap Infomax, South Korea's Democratic Party K-capital markets committee decided on July 27 against reducing the leverage ratio for single-stock leverage products, rejecting a proposal to lower it from 2x to 1.5x. Committee chair Oh Ki-hyung confirmed consensus with financial firms that government measures—including a 30 million won minimum deposit requirement and halting new product listings—are sufficient. Industry will implement self-regulatory measures, including avoiding the term ETF in product naming and discontinuing aggressive marketing.
