South Korean Won-Dollar Rate Hits 28-Year High at 1484.6 Won in H1 2026

According to Newsis, South Korea's won-dollar exchange rate averaged 1484.6 won per dollar in the first half of 2026, marking the highest level since Q1 1998 during the Asian financial crisis. The rate has remained persistently elevated despite intervention efforts by currency authorities, as continued net selling pressure from foreign investors shows no signs of easing.
