South Korea Plans to Push Digital Assets Basic Law Legislation in H2 2026

According to ChainCatcher, citing Korea Economic Daily, South Korea's government confirmed its blockchain and digital assets ecosystem cultivation policy through the 2026 H2 Economic Growth Strategy. The government plans to push the Digital Assets Basic Law legislation in the second half of 2026, covering institutionalization of stablecoins and cross-border stablecoin transaction systems. Additional measures include launching a sovereign debt tokenization pilot in 2027 and supporting amendments to capital market laws to establish virtual asset spot ETF framework.
