According to a May 6 report by Decrypt, the Solana Foundation has partnered with Google Cloud to launch the Pay.sh service, which allows AI agents to pay for on-demand API access fees using stablecoins on Solana, without traditional accounts or subscriptions; for each API call, the agent only needs to pay a fraction of a cent, with no minimum spend requirement.
According to a May 6 report by Decrypt, Pay.sh connects AI agents to backend services via an API proxy gateway running on the Google Cloud platform. The service uses two open payment standards: the x402 protocol for open AI payments, incubated by Coinbase and currently maintained by the Linux Foundation, and the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), developed jointly by Tempo and Stripe.
According to a May 6 report by Decrypt, the services supported by Pay.sh include:
Google Cloud services: Gemini, BigQuery, Vertex AI, and more than 50 community API providers
AI services: Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes
Blockchain infrastructure: Helius, Alchemy
Data services: Dune Analytics, Nansen
Decrypt’s report said Pay.sh is intended to provide enterprises with a new programmable-currency business model that traditional payment channels cannot support.
According to a May 6 report by Decrypt, last month Coinbase launched an x402 app store for AI agents to use; earlier this year, Google also released an AI agent payments protocol supported by Coinbase and the Ethereum Foundation; and Stripe and MoonPay have recently also announced capabilities for AI agents to execute stablecoin transactions on behalf of users.
