SoftBank Forms AI Chip Rental Venture SB Neo with 10GW Capacity Target by 2030

According to Bloomberg, SoftBank Group and SoftBank Corp. formed SB Neo Inc. on July 2 to rent AI chips and cloud computing to U.S. companies starting next fiscal year. SoftBank Corp. will own 51% of the venture, while parent SoftBank Group holds 49%.

SB Neo aims to supply approximately 10 gigawatts of data center capacity by around 2030 for AI training and inference, exceeding the current contracted capacity of rivals CoreWeave and Nebius, each at 3.5 gigawatts. The venture will launch first in Texas.
