Seoul Housing Market Index Rises to 130.9 in June, Long-Term Lease Shortage Deepens

According to the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, Seoul's housing market consumer sentiment index rose to 130.9 in June, up 1.0 point from May. The capital region index stood at 123.4, maintaining an uptrend. However, long-term lease (jeonse) shortages intensified, with 68.4% of Seoul brokers reporting that tenants seeking rental housing far outnumbered landlords offering units, compared to only 7.8% reporting the opposite. Similar imbalances appeared in Incheon (69.9%) and Gyeonggi Province (61.3%), indicating region-wide jeonse supply constraints.
