Sen. Warren Says Trump's CFPB Overhaul Has Cost Americans $26.5 Billion

According to a report by Sen. Elizabeth Warren shared with CNBC on Thursday, the Trump administration's overhaul of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has cost Americans up to $26.5 billion. Warren attributed $15 billion to the CFPB's abandonment of a rule capping credit-card late fees at $8, and another $7.5 billion to the repeal of the overdraft fee rule that would have limited banks to charging $5 per overdraft. The remainder of roughly $4 billion comes from the agency's decision to drop more than three dozen enforcement actions and settlements.
