SEC Proposes New Policy Allowing Crypto Companies to Experiment with Tokenized Stock Trading

According to SEC chair Paul Atkins, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing to announce a new policy that will allow cryptocurrency companies to experiment with blockchain-based tokenized stock trading with reduced compliance requirements. Under the proposal, enterprises would be permitted to test new digital asset business models, including the tokenization of U.S. equities, without full adherence to existing disclosure and investor protection rules. Traditional finance firms including Citadel Securities and SIFMA have expressed concerns, citing potential liquidity fragmentation and regulatory arbitrage risks.
