Sand.ai Secures Over $100 Million in Funding, Plans July Launch of Open-Source MoE Video Model

According to Beating, Sand.ai, a video generation AI company founded in January 2024, announced completion of two funding rounds totaling over $100 million. Investors include Look Capital, Lollapalooza Capital, Jiukun Ventures, Matrix Partners, and others. The company's Magi-1 model currently ranks first on Google DeepMind's Physics-IQ benchmark for physical realism.

Sand.ai plans to release a new-generation video model using Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture in July 2026, with open-source availability. The model aims to balance efficient inference with the largest parameter scale in the open-source space, addressing the cost, speed, and quality tradeoffs in video generation.
