Samsung Rolls Out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to Global DX Division Employees, Reversing 2023 Ban

According to OpenAI, Samsung Electronics is rolling out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to all employees in its global Device eXperience (DX) division, marking a significant shift from 2023 when the company banned use of ChatGPT and other generative AI tools on company devices and networks following a sensitive source code leak incident.

The DX unit covers Samsung's display, mobile, and home appliance businesses. However, the policy change does not apply company-wide; Samsung's semiconductor Device Solutions division remains subject to tighter restrictions on external AI tools due to security concerns and will continue using Samsung's in-house Gauss model. OpenAI noted that ChatGPT Enterprise includes data protection, user and access management, and security controls.
