Rivian Cuts Less Than 2% of Workforce as It Loses $6,000 Per Vehicle Sold

According to the Wall Street Journal, Rivian announced on Tuesday (June 16) that it is laying off hundreds of employees, representing less than 2% of its total workforce, to reduce mounting losses. The automotive manufacturer revealed that its automotive operations lost approximately $6,000 per vehicle delivered in Q1 2026. The layoffs primarily affect service and customer support teams, coming just one week after Rivian launched deliveries of its R2 SUV, a key mid-market vehicle designed to help the company achieve profitability.
