Republicans and Democrats Clash Over Clarity Act Ethics Enforcement on Capitol Hill

According to Eleanor Terrett, a CryptoInAmerica reporter, bipartisan negotiations on Capitol Hill on July 21 are deadlocked over the enforcement mechanism for the Clarity Act's ethics provisions. Negotiators are also discussing DeFi-related provisions, but ethics remains the primary hurdle.

The White House and Republicans proposed granting the federal Department of Justice enforcement authority, rather than state attorneys general. However, Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks called the proposal "unserious" and stated she would not support the bill if DOJ enforcement is the only option. Discussions are ongoing to reach a compromise that satisfies both parties.
