Philippines Reaches Upper-Middle Income Status on July 1 With $4,850 GNI Per Capita

On July 1, the World Bank announced that the Philippines officially became an upper-middle income country (UMIC), with gross national income per capita reaching $4,850, exceeding the threshold of $4,636 by $214. The milestone marks the end of nearly four decades in the lower-middle income category since 1987.
