Perplexity Introduces Hybrid Agentic Inference at Computex 2026, Splitting AI Tasks Between Local and Cloud

According to Perplexity's announcement at Computex 2026 on June 2, the company introduced hybrid agentic inference, a system that automatically routes AI workloads between a user's local device and cloud-based models without manual configuration. The feature will be available in Perplexity Computer in July, initially on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors for Windows PCs. A compact local model determines which tasks require cloud processing—particularly for handling sensitive data like financial records and personal files—while routing computationally complex reasoning to the server.
