Pennsylvania Bank's Data Breach Exposes Customer SSNs, Names Due to Unauthorized AI Application

According to an SEC filing, Community Bank experienced a data breach earlier this month caused by an unauthorized artificial intelligence-based software application, exposing customer names, social security numbers, and dates of birth. The bank determined the incident material on May 7, 2026, due to the volume and sensitive nature of the non-public information involved. Upon discovery, the bank secured the information and initiated an internal investigation with external cybersecurity advisors. The breach did not disrupt operations, customer account access, payment systems, or core IT infrastructure.
