PayPal Ventures Gradually Shuts Down, Halts New Investments After 80+ Projects Since 2016

According to TechCrunch, PayPal Ventures, the corporate venture arm of PayPal established in 2016, is gradually shutting down as of June 18, 2026. The division has invested in over 80 projects across three funds totaling $850 million, including crypto trading platform Talos Global, fintech infrastructure company Plaid, and crypto bank Anchorage Digital. PayPal Ventures remains nominally active with minimal staff supporting its existing portfolio, but has halted new investment activities. The company is exploring strategic options, including potential secondary market sales of its venture portfolio with assistance from Jefferies.
