ORCL Rises 1.4% Overnight After Nvidia-OpenAI Data Center Backstop Report

According to Wall Street Journal, Oracle Corp. (ORCL) stock rose 1.4% in overnight trading late Sunday after a report that Nvidia was in talks to provide roughly $250 billion in guarantees for OpenAI's massive data center project in southern Ohio developed by a SoftBank unit. The Nvidia backstop would help OpenAI lease the 10-gigawatt facility and secure more favorable debt terms. OpenAI is among Oracle's largest new customers, making the potential project a major tailwind. However, ORCL has faced investor pressure over mounting debt taken on to expand data center capacity, much of it tied to OpenAI contracts; the stock is down 54% from its June 1, 2026 high.
