NVIDIA CEO Huang Attends Coherent 6-Inch InP Fab Groundbreaking in Texas on June 16

NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Coherent's expanded manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, on Tuesday, June 16, alongside Coherent CEO Jim Anderson. The facility will produce 6-inch indium phosphide (InP) wafers and optical interconnect components, essential for powering AI infrastructure at scale.

NVIDIA invested $2 billion in Coherent in March 2026 to support research and development, with additional multi-billion-dollar procurement commitments. When fully operational, the facility is expected to create over 550 direct jobs and thousands of indirect positions.
