Nouriel Roubini Warns U.S. CPI Could Rise to 5-6% and 10-Year Treasury Yields Near 8% on July 15

According to Business Insider, on July 15, economist Nouriel Roubini warned that U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation could rise to 5-6% due to structural factors, significantly above the June rate of 3.5%. The "Dr. Doom" economist cited geopolitical tensions, particularly the U.S.-Iran conflict that has driven up oil and commodity prices since March, as a primary driver. Roubini also identified de-globalization, government spending expansion, and climate change as inflationary pressures. He predicted U.S. 10-year Treasury yields could approach 8% if inflation reaches those levels, up from current 4.6%. Such a rise would mark the highest level since 1994. Rising Treasury issuance to cover fiscal deficits could further drive up long-term rates if demand fails to keep pace.
