Microsoft Finds Decision-Making Is AI's Top Workplace Use, Up 28% of Activities on May 29

According to Microsoft, on May 29 the company released its Work Trend Index report based on over 100,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot chat records from February 2026. The report found that decision-making accounts for 28% of workplace AI activities, far exceeding information retrieval (13%) and document processing (12%). Workers increasingly use AI for higher-level thinking, including analysis and faster decision-making, rather than automating routine tasks.
