Lawson to Pilot JPYC Stablecoin Payments in August, Japan's First POS-Linked Test

According to Bitcoin.com, Lawson, Japan's convenience store giant, plans to pilot JPYC stablecoin payments in early August at a Tokyo store, marking Japan's first direct POS-integrated stablecoin payment test. Customers will complete transactions by scanning a QR code on their smartphone e-wallet. Hashport provides wallet technology support, with payment data feeding directly into Lawson's existing point-of-sale system to record product quantities, payment times, and transaction details.
