KOSDAQ Drops 5.33% to 786.94, Breaks Below 800 Level for First Time in 10 Months on July 8

According to Korea Economic TV, South Korea's KOSDAQ index fell 5.33% to 786.94 on July 8, breaking below the 800 level for the first time in 10 months. The index has retreated to levels last seen in September of the previous year. From the beginning of the month through today, KOSDAQ has declined 9.2% from its July 3 close of 866.72.

Institutions led the selloff with net sales of 34 billion Korean won, while foreign investors purchased 44.2 billion won and retail investors sold 10.8 billion won. Among KOSDAQ's largest holdings, most declined 5-7%, with some falling over 10%. Declining stocks outnumbered gainers by approximately 1,480 to 200, while daily trading volume has fallen below 7 trillion Korean won for the first time this year.
