According to reports on May 12, Kevin Warsh, President Trump’s nominee for the next Federal Reserve chair, cleared a key procedural hurdle in the Senate on Monday. The Senate is expected to vote as early as Tuesday to confirm Warsh as a Fed governor with a 14-year term, followed by a separate confirmation process for his four-year term as Fed chair, with a vote potentially occurring by Wednesday. The Republican-controlled Senate is anticipated to approve Warsh’s appointment. Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s term ends this Friday, May 16. The Fed’s next meeting is scheduled for June 16-17.
