The TOPIX index gained 25.97 points (+0.66%) to 3,945.18, with SoftBank Group and semiconductor-related stocks leading gains.

Market participants remain cautious over geopolitical risks, including threats from Yemen's Houthi militia and warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Iran. The dollar-yen exchange rate edged up 0.02% to 162.47 yen.
