Japan's MUFG, Mizuho, Sumitomo Banks Gain Access to Anthropic's Claude Mythos for Cyber Defense

According to The Japan Times, Japan's government and three of the country's largest banks—MUFG Bank, Mizuho Bank, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.—have gained access to Anthropic's Claude Mythos for cybersecurity defense as of June 3. The model, designed for defensive cybersecurity work including local vulnerability detection and penetration testing, was made available under a public-private working group initiative led by Japan's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama. The move follows Japanese financial groups already receiving restricted-access arrangements to OpenAI's GPT-5.5 for similar cyber defense purposes.
