Japan's Ethylene Plant Operating Rate Hits 27-Year Low at 67.3% in April Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruptions

GateNews
According to Japan Petrochemical Industry Association, Japan's ethylene plant operating rate fell to 67.3% in April—the lowest level since comparable data began in 1996—amid disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Ethylene production declined to 283,500 metric tons, down 37.1% year-over-year, as naphtha imports from the Middle East faced severe supply constraints. The April utilization rate dropped below the previous low of 68.8% recorded in March and the 75.7% level in February.
