Japanese Yen Falls to 20-Month Low Against Korean Won, Trading at 898.90 on July 23

According to Yonhap Infomax, on July 23, the JPY/KRW exchange rate broke below 900 won for the first time in approximately 20 months, trading at 898.90 won per 100 yen as of 2:38 p.m. The rate hit a low of 898.41 won near noon. This marks the first time the pair has fallen below the 900 won level since November 21, 2024, driven by sustained Korean won strength. Meanwhile, the USD/KRW rate declined from a high of 1,559.20 won on July 1 to the 1,460 won range, reflecting dollar-selling pressure and South Korea's improved trade balance.
