According to Iran's state-run Press TV, on July 8, Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if attacked and announced new military and strategic doctrines. A source cited by the outlet said Tehran's resolve has strengthened over the past 48 hours, with immediate measures to be implemented upon any attack.
Under the new policy, passage through the Strait of Hormuz would be completely blocked, and Iran would strike at least two enemy targets for every one target attacked against it. The source emphasized Iran would not permit new maritime routes outside its designated framework and warned it is prepared to maintain control of the strait.
