On May 25, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that Iran's national football team will relocate its 2026 FIFA World Cup training base to Tijuana, a city on Mexico's northern border. The Iranian Football Federation said FIFA approved the change. Iran had originally planned to train in Arizona, U.S., but will now be based in Tijuana near the U.S.–Mexico border.

The 2026 World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19 across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Iran competes in Group G with Belgium, New Zealand, and Egypt, with all three group matches held in the U.S.
