On Wednesday, Indonesian President Prabowo announced plans to strengthen government control over commodity exports to address fiscal pressures and the declining Indonesian rupiah. Palm oil, coal, and iron alloy exports will now be required to be sold exclusively through a government-designated state-owned company, Prabowo told lawmakers during an annual fiscal address. The president cited significant export revenue losses due to under-invoicing and accounting discrepancies between reported figures and actual shipments.
