India Approves $5.46 Billion Military Equipment Purchase Including Air-Defense Missiles and Kamikaze Drones on July 4

According to AFP, India's Defense Acquisition Council approved on July 4 the procurement of military equipment valued at $5.46 billion. The approved acquisitions include mid-range air-defense missiles, electronic warfare systems, jet-based kamikaze drones, portable anti-tank missiles, naval mines, and high-altitude unmanned aircraft for intelligence gathering. The purchase follows India's military buildup in response to last year's large-scale armed conflict with neighboring Pakistan.
