According to PANews on June 20, the Hyperliquid community criticized HyperEVM's positioning and developer experience, arguing the execution layer was not designed as a general Ethereum environment but as a specialized layer for Hypercore interactions. Community members noted that the current design relies on corewriter and precompiled contracts, creating high learning barriers and complex address interactions that require multiple transactions for cross-asset operations.

The criticism highlighted that HyperEVM has long been neglected, possibly due to the team focusing resources on core products like HIP-3 and HIP-4. Community members suggested improving developer tools and optimizing the corewriter mechanism to boost ecosystem activity, warning that smart contract innovation may continue to slow without these improvements.
