Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index Falls 1.7% Midday, Breaks Below 24,000 Points

HK50-1.27%
According to Jin10, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 1.7% by midday on June 18, closing below the 24,000-point level after a sharp morning selloff. The Hang Seng had opened 166 points lower at 24,145 points and continued declining throughout the session, sliding as low as 23,868 points. The Tech Index dropped 1.38%. The selloff was triggered by overnight declines in U.S. equities following the Federal Reserve's decision to hold interest rates steady while signaling potential rate hikes later this year.
