Hong Kong stocks opened with modest gains on Monday (July 27). The Hang Seng Index rose 30 points or 0.12% to 24,993, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 13 points or 0.16% to 8,284. The Hang Seng Tech Index advanced 17 points or 0.38% to 4,647.
Trip.com Group surged 3.8% to 355.6 Hong Kong dollars following a 5.2 billion yuan fine imposed by Chinese regulators for alleged anti-competitive practices. Meanwhile, Contemporary Amperex Technology rose 2.9% to 640 Hong Kong dollars on the back of 42% growth in first-half earnings. Tech stocks showed mixed performance, with Alibaba up 1.3%, Tencent up 1%, and Baidu down 1%, while financials including HSBC and Bank of China declined slightly.
