Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Issues HK$12 Billion in Digital Bonds, Setting Global Record

According to ChainCatcher, Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation announced its first issuance of HK$12 billion in digital bonds, becoming the first government-linked institution in Hong Kong to issue digital bonds. The issuance marks the largest digital bond issuance globally to date.

The issuance comprises three tranches: HK$6 billion of two-year bonds, HK$2.5 billion of five-year bonds, and 300 million yuan of three-year bonds. The five-year tranche is the longest-dated digital bond Hong Kong has issued to date. The bonds will be generated on a distributed ledger technology platform.
