HIVE Digital Surges 22% on Monday After Columbia University Validates Paraguay AI GPU Performance

According to Columbia University press release on Monday, HIVE Digital Technologies (HIVE) shares surged more than 22% after the university's research team validated the performance of the company's Paraguay-based AI infrastructure. Researchers found that HIVE's Nvidia A40 GPU cluster achieved performance comparable to Nvidia H100 systems on certain large language model pretraining workloads involving models up to 1.4 billion parameters. The team successfully trained models from New York using GPUs located more than 5,000 miles away in Asunción, Paraguay, demonstrating the viability of geographically distributed AI infrastructure.
