Guinea to Introduce Aluminum Ore Export Curbs in June 2026 as Output Surges 25% to 183M Tons

GateNews
According to Bouna Sylla, Guinea's mining and geology minister, the world's largest bauxite producer plans to introduce export controls on aluminum ore in June 2026 to curb oversupply and stabilize prices. Guinea's bauxite exports surged 25% to 183 million tons in 2025, with growth accelerating in the first quarter of 2026, causing severe market oversupply. As a supplier of over one-third of global bauxite, Guinea aims to align export volumes with demand to lift prices back to sustainable levels.
