Goldman Sachs Urges Clients to Hedge Against KOSPI Declines as South Korean Banks Tighten Credit Limits on June 16

According to ZeroHedge, Goldman Sachs advised clients to hedge against potential KOSPI declines on June 16, as South Korean banks tightened credit lending and overdraft limits to curb debt-driven market speculation. Major banks including Hana Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, and Shinhan Bank imposed new restrictions under regulatory guidance. Hana Bank capped new credit loans for high-income earners at 100 million Korean won (approximately $65,881) with overdraft limits of 50 million won, effective June 16. KB Kookmin Bank implemented similar restrictions on the same date. These measures target household borrowing fueled by stock market investments, which surged in May.
