Global Chip Equipment Sales to Hit Record $229.5B by 2028, Rising 23.2% in 2026

According to SEMI on July 21, global semiconductor equipment sales will rise 23.2% year-on-year to $165.9 billion in 2026, reaching a record $229.5 billion by 2028. Growth is driven by spending on AI infrastructure, high-bandwidth memory, and advanced logic chips, with China, Taiwan, and South Korea remaining the largest markets.

Separately, TrendForce reported that Samsung and SK hynix plan to invest 800 trillion won ($536 billion) in four South Korean fabs and 81 trillion won ($54.3 billion) in a packaging hub.
