According to German Airport Association CEO Ralph Baisel, via CCTV on May 10, aviation fuel shortages may lead to more flight cancellations, particularly affecting budget airlines, with ticket prices likely to rise further. Baisel stated that jet fuel prices have doubled since late February compared to pre-U.S. military action against Iran levels. In the worst-case scenario, airport operating capacity could decline by 10%, potentially affecting 20 million passengers. Airlines currently cannot operate profitably at existing fuel price levels, and Baisel expects oil prices to remain elevated for months.
