According to NPR, George Santos allegedly placed bets on prediction market Kalshi wagering he would not attend President Donald Trump's State of the Union address in February, while publicly promising to attend the event. Kalshi suspended Santos' account and referred the trades to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Department of Justice, with both agencies opening investigations. Santos reportedly profited tens of thousands of dollars from the trades after skipping the address, having tweeted he would attend the day before the speech.
